Dozen bets are a type of outside
roulette bets that are very similar to
column bets. With this wager, you are allowed to place a bet on either the first dozen (1-12), the second dozen (13-24), or the third dozen (25-36) of numbers. To place a dozen bet you simply place your chips on the dozen betting area you wish to bet on. If any number in that dozen hits, you win. These bets are usually labeled on the
roulette table with the words 1st 12, 2nd 12, and 3rd 12. Another labeling system for these bets that you might see is P12 (Premier 12), M12 (Milieu
12), and D12 (Derniere 12).
Dozen bets have a payout of 2:1. If you placed a $5 dozen bet on the 1st 12 and the
wheel landed on 11, you would be paid $10.
The picture below shows an example of a dozen bet. The player has placed a $100 bet on M12, the second dozen, numbers 13-24.
